The BestAPY Index — today’s reading
Baseline reading · October 22, 2026
What it is
The BestAPY Index is the equal-weighted average of the 5 highest no-strings high-yield savings APYs in America — no direct-deposit requirements, no debit-purchase requirements, no teaser rates — each verified on the bank’s own official website. It’s updated every Monday.
Why does it matter? One bank can move its rate on any given day, but a single number that tracks what top savings accounts actually pay tells you where the market is really heading — the way an index tracks stocks instead of watching a single company.
Today’s components
| Bank | APY |
|---|---|
| Pibank | 4.40% |
| Elevault | 4.34% |
| Peak Bank | 4.27% |
| EverBank | 4.20% |
| Newtek Bank | 4.20% |
Index: 4.28% — (4.40 + 4.34 + 4.27 + 4.20 + 4.20) ÷ 5 = 4.28%

October 22, 2026: the Index was expanded from a top-4 to a top-5 average on its first day; the baseline reading shown uses the top-5 definition.
Weekly readings are added every Monday; the trend chart appears once several readings have accumulated.
Methodology
- FDIC-insured, nationally available accounts only.
- Rates are verified on each bank’s official website — never on aggregator sites.
- Conditional and teaser rates are excluded: no direct-deposit requirements, no debit-purchase requirements, no introductory rates.
- If a bank drops out of the top 5, it leaves the Index at the next reading.
